Reference From Our First Infrared Sauna Customer

We received delivery of our 2 person Helo Infra Red Sauna from Norpe Saunas on the 17th November 2006. It was put together and working very quickly and we have used it at least three times a week since.

My wife and I have both experienced steam rooms and conventional saunas before but this system is so convenient and is most therapeutic. Our IR Sauna is situated in an insulated, wooden summerhouse about 20 metres from the main house.

We turn the sauna on about 20 minutes before we intend to use it and set the temperature at about 60ºC. By the time we return to it the temperature has usually reached 45º+ and continues to climb for up to 10 minutes more. Maintaining a high temperature means the IR panels stay on and so you benefit from the far infrared rays. We like to open the top vents after the temperature has been reached to ensure that the IR panels stay on.

We both find that we start to perspire liberally after about 15 minutes (sometimes less) and by staying in for 30 minutes we feel the full benefit. Compared to other systems, we have experienced far more perspiring with this IR system.

One latent benefit is the continued warm feeling one derives from the effects of far infrared radiation on the muscles. Several hours after leaving the sauna you still feel the warmth in leg and arm muscles.

My son has recently tried out the sauna and was equally impressed by the effects comparing it to other saunas he has used in private gymnasia.

Setting Up

The sauna arrived in three very large cardboard boxes. The panels are very well packed in polystyrene and cardboard. We located the instruction manual (in the smallest box) and it took us about 30 min to erect the sauna and a further 5 min to connect up all the plugs. The connections are very easy and neatly located under a series of trap doors on the roof – you need a little headroom above the sauna to make these connections. Only the main connection at the back requires a screwdriver and the cover to the connection under the seat. With regard to this plastic cover, make sure that you have selected the correct screws and take care not to snap the legs that stick out on the lid as they are needed to hold the screws in place.

The quality of the materials used and the workmanship is excellent. The coloured mood lighting system is very impressive, as are the internal and external lights. These have proved very useful in our location. There is also a car radio with CD player located behind the front panel and the sound quality is very good. To retain the radio presets it is necessary to keep the mains supply on and connected – a small transformer maintains a very low current to the radio (just as in a car).

The control panel for the sauna, repeated inside and out, is comprehensive and simple to use.

We are extremely pleased with the sauna and consider it to be an excellent product and very reasonably priced.
